The Padgett Family

Hi! We’re Tom and Jes, and we live with our two sons on a small 8-acre farm tucked into the Appalachian foothills of Central Ohio. Since moving to Granville in 2016, we’ve been getting to know the land, learning new skills, and meeting plenty of human and non-human friends. We’ve also been working to support local biodiversity by planting species native to our area and having fun as a family getting to know all the plants and insects that live here.

Mossycup Farm is named after the large Bur Oak growing at its center. “Mossycup” is a nickname for the Bur Oak (Quercus macrocarpa) because of its large, cup-shaped acorn caps that have moss-like edges.

Much of what you’ll find in the farm shop is inspired by local flora & fauna, and it’s our aim to highlight some of the very special plant and insect species we’ve connected with through what we create. Our handmade offerings are one-of-a-kind or are lovingly crafted in small quantities, and all natural material offerings are sustainably foraged here in Granville, OH, the traditional lands of the Hopewell and Shawnee peoples.
